(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); started to flash a ps3 today that I got from ebay. wanted to test gpu with gta5 because there were serious signs of overheat inside the console. plus it was disgusting inside. had to update to 4.80 to get online and test it. it tested good so I went ahead and made a dump without updating e3 flash for 4.80. patched the dump with nonupdated e3 flasher and flash tool. it still says install update with 4.80 or later. did I screw up? or can I update flasher, pull a dump and start over?

e3 flasher probably wouldn't have done anything if it wasn't updated. If the leds dance when you turn it on then it is updated. You only need to update it once initially and then never again.

You need to update the patcher to one for 4.80 ps3s and patch your backup with that before writing it back to the ps3.

If you have already written a bad backup then you will receive GLOD on restart. Just flash a good backup(if you have one) to the ps3 to fix this. If the console doesn't power back on, you will need to solder a wire from the tristate to any ground to power the console enough to flash a good backup back to it(e3 flasher in fun flash mode up, the rest switches down.)

GL! lmk if you need any more help.

thanks for the reply. updated flash tool to version 4.76. reflashed but still asked for 4.80 or higher. had to use a syscon changer to spoof rebugs 3.55 firmware to 4.80. it finally took that. install and toggled qa flag then tried to install rebug 4.78 rex and it said corrupted data. turned on system update debug in debug settings. Reinstalled 3.55 rebug firmware. then it said no applicable data found when I trying to install rebug 4.78 Rex. installed rebug 3.55 downgrader. then try to install rebug 4.78 Rex. it finally worked after that. now its all good. has this ever happened to anyone else? hope this helps someone.

If your ps3 is currently on 4.80 ofw, you will need to patch your backup with a 4.80NORpatcher

If it went through, you should still see the screen asking for 4.80, but it will let you install rogero 3.55 downgrader, from there you QA flag and install a (CEX) cfw of your choice.

thank you. and yes thats what I did after wearing out my flash drive and usb ports lol. its so weird though. usually it brings the console back to factory unless the patch isn't that thorough after 4.80?

what I mean is that it still asks for 4.80 so that wasnt part of the patch? I still could install 3.55 rebug but nothing from there. had to use the downgrader for it to accept anything else. so was it not downgraded yet? if not then why would it accept 3.55 rebug nondowngrade firmware?

I'm actually on habib cobra firmware 4.66 and the spoof doesn't work for it so I was trying to just uodate to a newer firmware(cobra as well) and have never ran into an issue like this Idk why it won't let me update the firmware but it just keep saying there is no applicable uodate on my usb just going to start over from 3.55 Rogerio and see what happens thanks though

ive had trouble with rogerio in the past. rebug is the deal. try installing firmware straight from 3.55 downgrader. that worked for me
