started to flash a ps3 today that I got from ebay. wanted to test gpu with gta5 because there were serious signs of overheat inside the console. plus it was disgusting inside. had to update to 4.80 to get online and test it. it tested good so I went ahead and made a dump without updating e3 flash for 4.80. patched the dump with nonupdated e3 flasher and flash tool. it still says install update with 4.80 or later. did I screw up? or can I update flasher, pull a dump and start over?
e3 flasher probably wouldn't have done anything if it wasn't updated. If the leds dance when you turn it on then it is updated. You only need to update it once initially and then never again.
You need to update the patcher to one for 4.80 ps3s and patch your backup with that before writing it back to the ps3.
If you have already written a bad backup then you will receive GLOD on restart. Just flash a good backup(if you have one) to the ps3 to fix this. If the console doesn't power back on, you will need to solder a wire from the tristate to any ground to power the console enough to flash a good backup back to it(e3 flasher in fun flash mode up, the rest switches down.)
