Anyways, last night feeling a little nostalgic I decided to jump back on black ops 1 and play some classic zombies. Normally, my fan speed is fine and I don't mess with it. But last week I decided to use Webman to set "Auto at: 69C". Well last night my console froze, thinking it was just a normal freeze. Well after checking temps my cell temp was at 79C which is extremely hot. My system was overheating and shut it self off when I tried to turn it back on. Meanwhile, my RSX was at 57C or so. I changed my Webman "Auto at" to 65C and then my fan went crazy and brought it down to as low as 70C. But that's still too hot for me. Normally, when setting via Webman it will increase fan speed until it reaches the temp I put, in this case 65C. But it wouldn't go lower.
In the first place I had it set to not go over 69C, but somehow Webman wasn't responding and didn't set my fan off so it overheated. Any idea why?
So basically, my main question is this. Why wasn't Webman or my fan lowering down temps to what I put it to? Did it reach a max? Why was it only my Cell temp overheating?
Thanks in advance! If any of you need any assistance with software related issues contact me :p
It only helps to prevent it man but it won't prevent it..you would need a lot of fans to bring the entire console to a certain temperature in order to absolutely rid worry of ylod, or watercool etc... The damage and focus is at the chips and their contact from the solder underneath them all the way to the connection between the chips and heatsinks/ thermal paste and/or lack of.
Most likely webman wasn't (seeming) to respond because the console was actually overheating..or it coudn't bring it lower because it is/was actually overheating.
Change your thermal paste and hope for the best..
If you're catching one of the processors go out at least you have a chance to dick with it before it completely takes a dump.
I bet if you push down on the clamp of the questionable processor, it stops the overheating..gotta mess with that and figure a way to keep that connection...
