I know how to get into recovery by pulling the hdd with a trick i learned in another fourm. But i need to patch my 4.80 drex rebug with an mfw builder, is that possible? You don't need to patch the firmware as long as the BD logic board is working correctly.

It takes 60 seconds to convert back to CEX if your root key is dumped.

Thansk for the help man, but i ended up pulling the hdd out of the ps3 and booting into recovery mode, then patching the .pup and removed all the bluray frimware from it using mfw builder. And i could not convert to cex because i was in a update loop.
