i have converted from cex to dex before and back without problems...i was converting spare ps3(cechk03) to dex but did not realise I was on rebug 4.76lite which i later found out can not be converted...I EXPORTED flash to file,when i tried to dump eid root key i was unable (no option on rebug 4.76)so i then i dug a bigger hole and installed newer version of rebug (4.78 or 4.80 not to sure sorry) it did install but when it restarted all i get is screen telling me to install firmware higher than 2.4 but ps3 will not recognize any firmware at all...also i can't get into recovery i can only start ps3 normally...does ps3 need to be reflashed or would that enen be possible

any help or advise is welcome

You either switched yourself back to (CEX) or are still on (DEX)

Try these downgraders, one of them should work for you:

it was looking hopefull ,3.55 rogero was not recognized at all...dex ps3 official firmware ofw 3.55 (downgrader dex) was but when it finished preparing update it restarted to black screen....ive checked all connections and also tried av and hdmi..nothing but black screen
any idea how to fix my new problem...LOL

ouch. Can you get to recovery menu at all?

I'd maybe try another known working hdd and if that still fails, then yea it took a dump, but is most likely fixable by flashing a good backup to it..

it makes all the beeps to go to recovery but only a black screen,i did try start with no hdd....black screen

Thanks so much..changing the hdd gave me back a picture and let me install the dex firmware...I'm now on rebug dex4.80

Hi I'm new to cfw but have u tried resetting your display settings I had this problem when I first installed 4.80

I'm going to close this now as it seems the original poster has solved their issue.
