okay so I am new to jailbreaking and the ps3. but i had my ps3 on 4.75.1 rebug rex and i was trying to convert from cex to dex in rebug toolbox, when doing so i dumped eid root, then went to rewrite it and swap lv2 kernal to dex (which I realize now must have been wrong thing to do as my ps3 is semibricked). after doing this my ps3 rebooted and I am given the message
"The system software cannot be run correctly. Press the PS button to try to restart the system.
If the system cannot be restarted, you must reinstall the system software.
Connect storage media that contains update data of version 3.40 or later, and then press the START and SELECT buttons at the same time"
any suggestions to fix ?
as long as you did
dump eid root key
swap lv2
rewrite target id
in that order then you have swapped to dex successfully and all you need to do is update to a dex firmware like rebug Dex 4.75.3
me personally i choose not to use the rebug toolbox method. i say downgrading to 4.46 cex then installing eid root key dumper and idps set .
using this method to me is better when you want to swap. if your interested its pretty well the same way execpt
firmware 4.46 rex
install and run eid rootkey dumper (if u have a usb make sure its in the ps3)
then open idps set.
select make cex and dex dumps.
then convert to dex.
and thats it your ps3 reboots and your on dex.
i am just telling you this way cause i know some people have issues when using the rebug toolbox method.
and i personally use this method i like it better. and person doesnt get any wierd errors. like the improper shutdown warning. and if your booted to the black screen where you get that warning just install the 3.55 downgrader like dro suggested. as it would be your safest bet then trying to reinstall your old firmware. hope this has helped you.
