If it's a fat, the original logic board (small mobo inside the bottom of the disc drive) must stay with the console

If you do not have the original logic board to put into the new disc drive, then yes you will need remarry. I cannot help with that unfortunately...

If it's a slim ps3, they can just simply be popped in, but only relative models will work. 20xxx series will not fit into 25xxx or vice versa, for example.

The ps3 is 3003a the blu ray was also tookn out of another 3003a so will this be plug and play?
