Post: System error?

(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Today I got on my ps3 (Dex rebug) and my console froze. I thought nothing of this until when I turned it on it said "The file system on the system storage is corrupted and will be restored". When I push ok it loads up to 100% and a black screen appears and i have to shut the console off by unplugging it because the on/off button doesn't work when this happens. Would installing the same CFW from recovery mode help?

Thanks

Yes, a simple reinstall of your CFW through safe mode should fix all your issues.

Thank you for replying, I just tried installing the CFW from recovery menu but when I click the option it freezes. Do you know if there is anything else I can try?

Thanks again

UPDATE
When I select restore file system and rebuild database the system is stuck at "Preparing.. please wait". When I select UPDATE from the recovery menu it freezes on the highlighted option. And when it gets to 100% for restoring the file system (On normal XMB) it goes black for like 15 mins, beeps and says the same thing. Would I need to get a new hardrive?

Make sure you quote me back next time! I would then recommend you swap HDDs and give that a go. HDD could be corrupted.

You could try the Restore PS3 option then the other options may work, that always stopped the recovery menu freezing for me anyway.

If I were you I would consider this a last resort if there's personal data you want to keep.

Replying to your PM:

When you swap HDDs it will ask to reformat your HDD and to install a FW. You need to install the last FW that was on that system!

He already tried that, it doesn't work. His best bet is just swapping HDDs.

If you've tried everything else and are all out of options then yes try it but when you perform this operation, all data in the system storage WILL be deleted so be warned.
