I've looked everywhere and nothing I found one guy had something pretty much the same he just reinstalled fw.. But when I go to update via media it shows the PS3UPDAT.PUP but its grayed and get error code when hit x when I go thru safe mode it won't even detect it.. Hope someone can help

What do you mean? You are just trying to update the system with that update via safe mode.

no meant to say don't know how i managed to quote you twice.. but however i tried it but still says no applicable update data was found ect.. update with 3.50 or later

You did download the update right? From the notepad link? Also rename it?

iff you are on dex firmware you will need to use a dex pup ...and set your folders up right on your usb ....first folder PS3 ...inside that make another folder called UPDATE ... then ut your pup in there ...the pup has to be called PS3UPDAT.PUP
