What firmware is your PS3 on currently?

If your PS3 is on anything higher than 3.55 OFW you'll need to buy a device called an E3 Flasher to downgrade it to 3.55 to jailbreak it. You can get them from eBay and they range from $50-$75. In the meantime DON'T download anything from YouTube or anywhere else that says it can jailbreak your PS3 with just a USB, it'll either be an endless loop of surveys with no download or if you can download something it'll probably be a virus.

Well first off you need to find out if your system can be downgraded. Check the model on the back starting with CECH.
