There is a jailbreak for 4.80 its 4.80 Rebug. Thats the only one i know.

Or are you asking if you can jailbreak on 4.80 OFW? If you are the answer is no unless you downgrade using a E3 Flasher.

It has nothing to do with "growing balls", it's not possible to jailbreak straight from any firmware over 3.55.
