Post: Encrypting and Decrypting PS3 game files.

(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Is there a way of encrypting and decrypting game files for the PS3? For example, being able to see raw games assets, textures, sounds or hell, getting to where im able to see the developers encryption rather than Sony's .bin files? I would like to try and alter some of these files.

A Japanese 360 modder gave his two cents on how he mods Soulcalibur V. Because of how similar Soulcalibur IV and V are in file structure, he simply said he was able to swap out in-game costumes by renaming them with whatever he wanted to swap. In terms of hex value the games are similar on both platforms, im guessing that the files they reference would also be similar.

As much as this sounds easy.. I don't even know where to begin in terms of getting access to these files. I've searched around the internet for* a whole day and haven't came around much. The internet thinks i'm trying to do game save mods @_@

After using Poweriso on a PS3 iso disc I can see that the data is in the USRDIR but they are split up in .bins, any idea how to open these?

Well you won't just have one decrypter for anything PS3. There has to be one for each type of extension and most likely game. Good luck!

I think he's bugged, second time I've seen you get somewhere before him. You do get to these questions far faster than any of us can, keep it up.

I got lucky and found a page by an veteran modder on his findings for SCV as well as his 360 mod which gave me a detailed overview on how mods function. The 360 version has a very similar file structure.

I'm gonna repackage this on my PS3 when I pick it up on Saturday and test if it is working.

Small steps but I'm gonna pick up from his work hopefully! Thanks for the support!
