(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); so i posted a thread to try get help but nobody was able to help (or wanted to) so i googled my problem didnt find any answers on there either.
so i got abit carried away with myself and decided that i would re-flash the console with the e3 flasher using the dump i had saved from when i jailbroke it,*
it flashed and all seemed well, i plugged the console in with the hdd and bdrom back in place and it turned on, asked to press ps button which i did, then it said press start and select to install the data (something like that cant remember exactly) then the fan starts getting really loud like some sort of aircraft the console beeped a few times and switched off! is this a brick? if it is bricked can it be saved?

Did you renew the thermal paste on the CPU and GPU in this process?

nope didnt do any of that, tried to put it in recovery mode to update the firmware that way but recovery mode loads up then the fan starts being really noisy and the console beeps 3 times shuts down and beeps 3 times again, this is about the 20th console ive jailbroke and the first one ive bricked makes me not wanna touch another console lol

Believe me, I know the feeling all too well.

If you take the console apart down to the motherboard, you should always change (renew) the thermal paste on the CPU and GPU imo.. If it is still the old thermal paste, there is a chance it is overheating..

I'm not saying it's not bricked though.

The prompt to install a firmware should show up when you boot the console, does it not? Then you should be able to install the downgrader from there. Have you tried that?

when i turn the console on it says press ps button so i do this, then it has loads of writing says something about pressing start and select together to update which i do but then the fan goes louder than normal and cuts out, im thinking it could be an overheat problem, others have said if i can get as far as i do it may not be bricked and just the case of over heating which will be cause i didnt replace the paste right?

Most likely.

You can get a small tube of arctic silver 5 for around $12.

Put a thin line down the side of the two chips, and spread it evenly using a card or something.

Doing this will at least rule it out. Be carefull running the console when it is overheating. The more it shuts off, the more vulnerable the console will be upon next restart. Changing the thermal paste may not even help if it has already suffered damages from overheating.

where can i buy that from? im in the UK though so you may not be able to help me as to where to buy it, but if i can get some ill give it a try at the moment its in a cupboard getting saved for spare parts so if a little tube of paste can save it and make it work again its worth a try!

Exactly!

As for where to buy it, lol I probably couldn't help much with a store name (im in the US), but I usually pick it up from a store called radioshack (its like the only store I can find this), or order from ebay. You can usually find a bulk kit if you need a lot..

radioshack is a type of store that sells switches and buttons and other misc diy electronics, tools and supplies. They also sells things like headphones, phones, basic home stereos, blank cds/dvds, etc etc.
