I was always told never to do any updates so how do I go about doing this one without messing anything up any help is appreciated thank you..

Never install an official sony firmware higher than 3.55 if you want to keep it jailbroken.

Go to Rebug toolbox/settings/system information and the target type will tell you if you are CEX or DEX.

1. Download your cfw

2. Rename the file to "PS3UPDAT.PUP" (no quotes)
3. On a fat32 formatted usb flash drive, create a folder name "PS3"
4. Inside the "PS3" folder, create a folder named "UPDATE"
5. Inside the "UPDATE" folder, place your "PS3UPDAT.PUP"
6. Insert the usb flash drive into the rightmost usb port of your ps3
7. Boot ps3 into recovery mode (alternative: On the xmb, top of settings column, select "update system". Do not select from internet. Select from usb device.)
8. Select option "update system" (alternative: On the xmb, top of settings column, select "update system". Do not select from internet. Select from usb device.)
9 follow prompt and install


If you are installing a cfw that is LOWER than the one you are currently on, you must first install a downgrader cfw , and then install the lower cfw.

In order to sign in, our firmware version must match that of sony's current official firmware, which is now 4.81. To do this, we need a firmware spoof.

1. install senenabler to your ps3
2. Run senenabler
3. Select "PSN/SEN option"
4. Allow sen access and allow it to hard reboot when it is finished

Upon restart, go to XMB/settings/system information and your firmware version should be spoofed to (4.81)

You are then free to sign in.

Okay I have the sen enabeler and everything working funsta loads menus fine but I can't get any of my USB menus to work I have on my USB lexicon Serendipity *******s ********* Supernatural and like five others I can't remember everything works as it should but then when I get to the game to go online it has the alert at the beginning of the game like it normally would and the menus don't work at all but when I go back to fun stuff and I love for example k-tron it works fine online any other suggestions on that.. sorry for the late reply been busy with school and just got a new controller after I dropped mine in the hot tub a couple weeks ago

Not sure how you're running them from a USB, but either way. Just go to the respected sites of the menus you own and redownload them all. Then just try replacing them all.
