I have a 1tb HDD and I have a whole bunch of games and menus installed on it is there a way that i can just transfer that hdd to the new ps3 that i am going to jailbreak so i dont have to download all the games again ? I was thinking like maybe putting the same firmware and everything i had on my old ps3 to the new ps3 and just swap the hdd help me guys !

No that won't work, when you put the hard drive a new ps3 it will have to be formatted to that ps3.

You can manually transfer to a pc or a few usb drives. Then format the new hdd with the new ps3 and reinstall. Takes a little time but def worth it

If the ps3 wont open and you dont have back up files on your PC then you have no choice to start from scratch im afraid
