Are you getting to the XMB? Is there anything physically wrong with the console that is keeping you from using it?

Can you get to the recovery menu?
Try option "rebuild database" and "restore file system"
If this does not help,
Try option "restore ps3 system"
This will format the hdd to the ps3 and wipe everything(games,saves,etc)
When it is finished you will be brought to a black screen asking for your last syscall (last cfw installed)
Reinstall your cfw, or a downgrader and then your cfw.

If at any point the console freezes in the recovery menu or after selecting an option, you can assume the hdd is corrupt and will need to be replaced with any 2.5" sata hdd.
