so recently i accidentally updated my ps3 to the latest OFW and kind of screwed it up. I bought an E3 Flasher online (pre-owned) and disassembled and attempted to install it.
So when I try to attach the clip to the NOR chip it never clicks on... Like the many videos i've seen, it just does not clip on at all. No matter how much i re-position it.*
So instead I tried to manually put it on and it seems to be in position just fine. I put everything back in place (but do not screw anything back in because im so sick of unscrewing all of the ps3 again and again), and for some damn reason the e3 flasher just will not turn on for the life of me. I've tried pr-positioning it like 20 times, taping it down with coins and tape, adding blu-tack and it just won't do it. The guy I bought it off said everything should be in check because it worked fine for him.
Is my ribbon cable stuffed? Do i have to re-attach some components for it to power on (like I left out the blu ray disc drive, wireless card, covers and screws)?*
Additional info:
- I have a CECHK model FAT ps3
- just recently when turning it on it stays for around 20 seconds (no power to the e3 flasher at all by the way) and then speeds up the fan then gives three beeps and flashes red, although this only typically happens when a lot of stuff is out of place (dosent happen every time)
- E3 clip will not sit with proper clip on, so I had to use some force and various methods to make it sit
- both motherboard and e3 are clean so thats not an issue
- I recently bent and folded the ribbon cable like you would with paper but immediatley put it back to its original shape, now its just a bit scrunched up form the previous user.
So can anyone help me out? I am like 99.9% sure its not the NOR clip considering how much i tried to clip it on.
Thanks!
You bought a used e3 flasher, that's probably not good..
Did you renew the thermal paste on the console when taking it apart? If not, it's possible your console has suffered from overheating because of so..
It's possible the lack of connection between the chip and the clip shorted your NOR chip and you have GLOD. It could be fatal..
Any other info you can give us? Can you put the console back together completely and when doing so, does the console power and run normally or no?
