Post: Information about EBOOTS?

(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Hi guys,

I've said this a lot on here, there's often a lot of jargon everyone is expected to know/understand but no terminology or explanation anywhere.

I would like to know about the EBOOT.BIN file that is in a game directory. What is the file, what does it do, why are people making custom ones, what is there to customize within them, what's the difference between an EBOOT Elf, EBOOT BIN and these 'Self' files? A lot of jargon and no solid definitions anywhere.

Before everyone posts calling me a noob, I've searched on Google, searched PS3DevWiki etc. Still can't find any solid knowledge. Would be helpful if someone could clarify for myself and maybe others as well.

Thanks for reading*

Eboot is basically how the game runs, and what programming the game may have. Say for a Black Ops 2 eboot, you could make it to where either zombies loads up on start, or multiplayer, or that you have aimbot or no recoil. You can load mods through the eboot using SPRX as well. Eboot elf is a decrypted form of the .bin

People make custom ones usually to get people mods on boot of a game, or to provide antiban. It's also where server information can be found, as well as where the game knows what trophyset to load up.
