Why would you want to delete the profile via FTP?

It could cause issues like a soft brick if it isn't properly deleted, just delete it from the XMB?

i got like 15 profiles in ftp but in my ps3 i got only 4

any know how to solve this issue i got so basically i go to hdd->home-> i see alot of profiles with numbers but when im on my ps3 user list i only got 4 profiles is there anyway of deleting them i dont want that many folders cause i get confused of what account i want to put in my comment.dat
