This.^ More often than not, buying a console via eBay is nothing but a headache. A few good knocks in transit can cause all sorts of issues. Buy locally and ask whether you can run and use the console prior to handing over your money. Make conversation while giving the console a good chance to show signs of overheating, if any.

Eh, I wanted to go thru the process of jailbreak myself, so I bought a 3.55 OFW off eBay, rather than a jailbroken system.
