CFW is basically any retail or debug PS3 that has been jailbroken and requires modified pup files to keep up to date. CEX is a modified form of the retail PS3 (jailbreak). OFW is a normal PS3 console, that the everyday gamer uses. Debug is a related to a Devkit/Teskit used by developers and Quality Assurance in creating and analyzing games. A DEX console is a CFW-type based on the Devkit. Let's just say this, you start with a 3.55 OFW, nothing special. You jailbreak it using kmeaw, geohotz, or whatever else. Now you're on CFW, technically CEX. You could now update to an fw for Rebug REX, use Rebug Toolbox/IDPSSet and convert to DEX.
