Post: Can't install cfw on 3.55 ps3

(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Hey all,

I am very new to the jailbroken ps3 scene, I recently bought a ps3 that was on Rebug 4.75.1 DEX and I downgraded to 3.55 ofw (I think and not knowing I was suppose to toggle qa before downgrading so it's not on)*now when I go to update to install a new firmware there are 4 options 3 of which are grayed out and not clickable the one that is clickable, works but when I see the file on my usb to update it's grayed out as well but I can click it and it says data corrupt and gives an error code 80029cca

I have read on other forums it could just be as simple as my usb stick but I've tried a few different usb's, and I've tried going into recovery mode and restoring the ps3.

(I do still have install package files and debug settings, but when I install qa toggle and go into it the ps3 does not beep like everyone says it's suppose too, yes I know I'm a noob at this, any advice or assistance would be great.)

if you have debug settings, you are already qa flagged. It's only needed to do once, initially upon jailbreaking the console..probably is done on a CEX 3.55 only..

If you are CEX, you need CEX cfw
If you are DEX, you need DEX cfw

You can install a higher cfw version over a lower version. BUT, If the cfw you are trying to install is LOWER than the one you are currently on, you must install a downgrader first.

use this if you are CEX You must login or register to view this content.
then install a CEX cfw of your choice
or
use this if you are DEX You must login or register to view this content.
then install a DEX cfw of your choice

Verify your folder structure is
Fat32formattedusbflashdriveroot/PS3/UPDATE/PS3UPDAT.PUP

If you need any more help, just ask.

Sounds like you are trying to install an incompatible firmware..

If the CEX downgrader worked for you, then you need a CEX cfw (unless you convert to DEX)
If the DEX downgrader worked for you, then you need a DEX cfw..
