Windows XP Guide
This is somewhat old news but some people don’t know how it can be done… So here it is! Check what version of EyeToy camera you have by looking at the underside, you should have something like this…

You must login or register to view this content.

If the version is “30″ then use these drivers – SLEH 30

If the version is “31″ then use these drivers – SLEH 31
You must login or register to view this content.
If you have the SILVER EyeToy then use the “31″ driver.

1. First download the required drivers somewhere on your computer and then extract the files in a folder for ease of use.
2. Then plug in the EyeToy.
3. Windows should then start looking for the drivers and will probably say it can’t find any. Simply point Windows to where you extracted the files and it should start to install. Also when it asks for permission to install (under WinXP) just click on Yes.
4. Once all that is done another window should pop up asking if you live in a 50Hz or 60Hz region.
50Hz = Europe, 60Hz = Japan + USA. Thats it!

I hope that helps people to those stuck on getting the device working as a cheap webcam!

Windows Vista Walk through!

Well the same process is required under Windows Vista. There has been some requests and since I’m now on Vista full time here is a walk through!

use the same links from Windows Xp tut* ^^
* Old EyeToy – SLEH-000-30
* Silver EyeToy -SLEH-00031
Once downloaded extract the files somewhere on your computer. Remember where you put it!

Now, plug in your EyeToy, Vista should ask you what to do.

Click on “Re-install Driver” and then “Browse for my driver software“.

Remember where you extracted the downloaded files earlier on? Well its time to click on Browse and point it to the folder! Once done, click on “Next“.

Vista will ask a question to verify the driver. Click on “Install this driver software anyway“. It will then start installing. Just be patient!

Another window will pop up. If you are in Europe then click Yes for the 50Hz option. If you are in Japan/USA then click on No.

Job done! You have now installed the Sony Eyetoy under Windows Vista to use as a webcam! To test it, open the folder that you downloaded here on eMagi and look for a file called “VIDCAP32“. Double click on it and you should see your Eyetoy working!
