Do i plug my lag switch into my modem, plug my Ethernet cord into my lag switch and plug the other side of my ethernet cord into the ps3?

is this correct, or can i just?

plug my lag switch into my ps3, put my ethernet cord into my lagswitch, ( my ethernetcord is already on my modem)

MY COUSIN SAID THIS WILL GET U DISCONNECTED^ INSTANTLY!

some tips, hints? or tell me if the second method would work just as fine as the first 1.

do it wireless. through net tools its alot easier and free.
