I have a modem, I have a router and then I have comcast internet.
I know that you connect the router to the modem using the lag switch, and then using a completely different ethernet cable, connect the router and your xbox.
But these questions are to confirm everything:
1a. After making my lag switch, do I attach one end of the ethernet cable to the modem and then the other end of the ethernet cable to the router?
1b. My router and modem are already connected, so would I have to disconnect those wires, and then connect the ethernet cables? Or just leave them connected and then connect the ethernet cable?
2. Does it matter where I connect the ethernet cable into on the router? (Several ports)
3. Does it matter where I connect the ethernet cable into on the modem? (Several ports)
This is what I mainly made this thread for:
4. If I mess up in anyway, could I mess up my internet connection to my laptop? And when I use the lag switch I assume that I do lose connection to my laptop, but that would be temporary too, right? But when activating the lag switch, if I messed up somehow, it won't mess up the internet?
If you can only answer question 4, that'd be great, because that's the reason I created this thread.
+rep to anyone that helps
Any help would be appreciated, Thanks
