Basically,
I bought the official ps3 wireless mic and compared to my xbox wired mic it sounded like sh!t. I really did not like the ear piece sorta was uncomfortable and couldn't really understand anything anyone was saying so i did this~

There was a thread about the Xbox mic or headset having a crap sound codec. So obviously the ps3 has better sound codec. meaning of course its gonna sound a little worse.
I think I might be able to do this with a Turtle Beach. Its just wiring if Ive done it right. You cut off the mic for w/e will host the new mic, then you just wire them together. It worked for me. (It just fell apart, but still worked)
It works great, Sounds pretty decent although i must just be lucky because everyone i know's xbox mic sounds rubbish..
I don't actually use it anymore as i got a pair of Sennheiser HD595s so i just took the PS3 mic off the Xbox part and attached it too a clip so i could clip it onto my cloths..
BTW i think the point of this was so it wasn't an in-ear mic just because you get a sore ear after long gaming sessions.
