You talkin to me?
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); I understand what PSJailbreak is, and how Sony can ban your console by identifying the Backup Manager ID. My question is, if I don't Install or Use backup manager, and just experiment with installing custom game patches (MW2/COD4). Can Sony still catch you? I know the answer is probably no, but just to be sure before I fork out £75 on this thing.

That's true, but if he installs the pkgs offline then removes the Jig and plays offline they cant do much about it

I would never underestimate the 900 lb gorilla.

Sony has proven that they can do what they want, as well as fight any litigation from end-users.

Read your EULA with a fine tooth comb, what it says they are allowed to do with information, etc... when you buy/use their console is scary to say the least.

what if you ran the backup which launched the game id and then laod game and then sign in, wouldn't the ID shift to the game then the device itself?
the device backup manager has a special ID that they can detect but if you don't sign in, and then load your game then sign in the ID would be that game ID wouldn't it?

That's true, but according to federal law a company's EULA cannot override federal law, meaning if Sony's EULA says they can do something that violates federal law, such as OtherOS removal, even if the EULA says they can do it, it's illegal, I read this months ago, so I don't have the source, basically I'm saying Sony has violated the law before and we can do something about it, but we need to act. Also the OtherOS removal violates laws in numerous different states as well, action can be taken over that as well as actions that I'm sure they'll take because of the psjailbreak

Maintainin' Ma'h Cool
you know what we need... someone needs to make a cfw for the ps3 which can actually be installed through the "jig" so the jig is not needed no more. Just like the psp we can ask the homebrew developers for psp to convert it to ps3 just like "PSNLover" that lets you connect to the psn without updating or even spoof mac adress would be good too. if we can do it with the psp and install custom firmware to the ps3 we should be able todo alot of stuff we could do on the psp since they are very similar.

What and the xbox isnt flawed?

One Jtag hack that isnt in microsofts control, the jtag xbox bypasses any updates that microsoft put out, but with the ps Jailbreak your playing on a latest firewire, that sony can update, and if you dont update you dont go online so the developers arnt really bothered because it only really effects online play.. although ive been told microsoft is preparing a massive update to stop the jtags..

The otheros removal did not violate any laws. sony gave u a choice...have otheros and not go online, or update to play online and lose your otheros...thats how they got around it.
