they are using jpn accounts cus on a jpn account you have a psn id (the name it shows on a u.s. account) u.s. acounts only have psn ids but jpn accounts also have screen names that can be changed at any time (i know this cus me and my buddys do it all the time) on a jpn account when your playing with some one it shows your screen name insted of your psn however for someone to find you for something like a friend request they must search for your psn

the most likely had a few l's in there name atleast two im guessing and they were lower cap you do this by gust puting upper case i's in for the lower case l's they are idenical so every body has the same name
