Post: Very Possible Way To Get Patch On Updated PS3 (Needing Help)

(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Ok, so I was trying to think of a way to get the MW2 modded patch from our 3.41 Jailbreaked PS3's to an updated 3.42 PS3. I read someone's post asking if it would be possible to do a backup onto an external HDD and then restore it on to the updated PS3. I know this isnt possible as they are on different FWs. Then I remembered something Brendon said on NGU!(i). Can't remember it exactly but it was during the time we were trying to to it the HDD decryption way. He said something about making a backup on a external hdd. Then copy one of the files to your pc. Then use a special program which would convert that file back into a PKG...that was the gist of it anyway. From there you get it back on ps3 using maybe proxy method but I think it was another way? Anyway if this works we could possibly get a modded pkg transfered and installed on updated ps3'sSmile and ALSO we could be able to easily install modded pkgs on to jailbroken ps3's just using the install through usb method (alot easier and quicker for some people than fidling with ftp server.
And Brendon if you read this could you give us a hand? thanksHappy

Well thats the thing! The only way I can think of just now is proxy it over but I doubt it will work straight off (maybe just needs checksum fixed, i dunno?) BUT I remember brendanj9554 saying something in a post about this, and I'm 95% sure he mentioned a way to get the pkg on to ps3 without proxying. I remember this because I can remember thinking it was a very very good idea...shame I can't remember what it actually was lol

ok im not saying your wrong, but you do realize that if your XMB isn't jailbroken, .Self will defend it's shit and will keep giving you black screens. Thats the down side, if you get it to somehow magicly to not give you that screen, you might possibly be able to get it working. Ask around

Do you reckon it is the .self that tries to prevent installing the pkg? Or do you mean even when it is installed the code will not run. Because I know you can use a modded patch fine with jailbreak disabled (but I've only tried modding with jailbreak installed and then disabling JB)
