Now I see why I couldn't get mine to work.

I got a Teensy 2.0 (ATMEGA32U4 board) on eBay for $55, and followed You must login or register to view this content. tutorial to JB. You can get the Teensy boards significantly cheaper ($18) from the official website, but they are backordered right now. Possible wait time is maybe November or December when they get more. It was incredibly easy to install PSGroove on it and get up and running.
