I think only 2G and 3G can, not sure.
But you have to be on FW 3.41

Moving to PS3 section.

You have to be on firmware 3.41 on your PS3 and you have to have an iPhone / iTouch on firmware 3.1.2 that is 1G, 2G, or 3G (I recommend a 3G). If not and you are looking to downgrade then check cydia and see if it has your SHSH's on file (it's at the top of the cydia homepage). If not, then I'm afraid your too late but if you have then great. If you have a 3G then it eliminates the need to download and install ubuntu on your iPhone / iTouch with VMPlayer etc which is a lengthy process. Do read the requirements carefully when you are going to try to jb your ps3 with your iphone.

You HAVE to use a non 3GS/4 iphone, I can confirm it not working on both these models (i've tried 3G, 3GS and the 4 and i was only able to get it working on the 3G). The problem is not psfreedom, but installing iphodroid to your iphone.
Also, although i had doubts and still tried, any other method for jailbreaking your iphone also won't work. I tried jailbreakme.com method, but with this method iphodroid won't install correctly.

I have tried OS-es up to (and including) 4.01, which did all work fine on the 3G.

This is all on various sources on the net though, but you might be as stubborn as me ^^
