this is a 40gb model, so it has a 60pin connector

I tried switching it with my other PS3's bluray, only to see that the 160gb model had a smaller connection cable.. /facepalm

If anyone here has ever opened a 60gb model (someone must have :p ) can you pls make a photo or confirm that the bluray connecter is the same as in 40gb model ?? Cause i can get a YLOD 60gb very cheap (the BR should be fine, right? )

You need to replace the laser in your busted drive. There is a key on the drive that must match the key on the system. It is not retrievable nor flashable at this moment.

If i replace the board attached to the working bluray with the one from the busted, shouldn't it work just fine then ?

I saw a movie on youtube (someone posted it here) showing how to replace the drive (not just laser)
or is that bullsh?
