The majority of the videos that ask you to just download a single file are scams. They have you download something from one of those share cash links or whatever. So all you're doing is making them money if you're completing the offers or quiz's or whatever.
If you don't want to invest in a PSJailbreak or any other dongle then you could try an alternative method which I believe the majority of the jailbreaking community used. Just locate a device you have You must login or register to view this content. and click on it for instructions. If you don't have any of those devices there is yet another method but you'll have to fork over at least $30 USD for a USBKEY or Teensy board of some sort. PSFreedom is highly recommended, though. I jailbroke with my iPhone 3G.
