Post: How to play online with "3.41" *REQUIRES PSGROOVE v1.1*

(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); OK, pretty simple once you think about it... If we can load our own /dev_flash/ via JaiCraBs CFW Loader, we can load a 3.42 firmware... But hold on! We can't jailbreak on 3.42! And? We do hacks/upload patch_mp.ff to our MW2 patch... Then run FW Loader with actual 3.42 firmware on USB, and play online with modded patch (HDD is untouched!)...

This will work, but I don't know whether or not we can use a 3.41 flash and just change etc/vsh/version.txt?

The issue is though, how do we get a /dev_flash/ copy from 3.42, we can't jailbreak... :-( This rules out the first option. So our only option is to try to change etc/vsh/version.txt.

I think many people will try this!

UPDATE: Some devices such as HTC Touch Hero now have PSGroove v1.1 ported with syscalls PEEK and POKE...

Please note: You cannot use PSFreedom, PSJailbreak, or any other clone, you need the PEEK and POKE syscalls which is only in PSGroove v1.1...

So, I think I'm going to keep it quiet for now until I feel like the community needs a leg to stand on. It is simply just a trick with firmware file manipulating.

absolute bullsh**********t people dont be fooled by this person there are tons of them in every hacking scene

Retired, done with gaming
You need to edit the INDEX.DAT this is basically an encrypted version.txt
Maby you can find decryption keys with a lv2 dump.. i mean it has to be decrypted in some point in time... Oh and for proof ( this only works on the FAT PS3s ) open index.dat change only 1 BYTE
save it ( be sure to backup ) then load your firmware and check your version it will say

"System Version X.XX"

Dont try to launch any games though with a corrupted index.dat you will just get the

its seriously pissing me off that non of the hardcore hackers (mathieulh, jaicraB, Team hades, skfu, cjpc) havent gotten psn to work yet I mean the scene has finally after 4 years hacked the ps3. A high security bank would be hacked faster than the ps3 took to hack(im not joking).

You may be onto something here, but there seems to be so many obstacles to overcome. Don't you think that the title is a bit mis leading also?

How come you can only do it on fat ps3s? I loaded up an original FW version from USB (I hadn't changed anything...) and it said that the fw had not started properly, and i restarted and it booted up normally.

I was using the beta android image for ipod touch 1g with peek and poke syscalls...

I will be ordering a BlackCat USB soon in order to have PSGroove v1.1, so I can load FW from USB properly...

I was just thinking about this and wouldn't this improve your chances of getting RSOD (Red Screen Of Death). You somtimes get this when Firmwares don't load properly etc. Any answers?
