Post: Possible Downgrade Method [THEORY]

(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); I was told today that if your firmware upgrade gets corrupted during installation, that you receive the option to install firmware from an external device. Now, if this is true, could you possibly, while upgrading to 3.50, purposely corrupt the installation by shutting down power, and then re-booting without internet connection, install Firmware 3.41?

I have no idea if this would work, just another theory. And YES, I do know it's stored on the NAND FLASH, but if you corrupt the current one, could it possibly be downgraded to prevent further damage to the sytem?

Theory #2.
You could use proxy server while updating, redirect the 3.42 Update file to the 3.41 Update file mid-update, and then when the file is corrupted during the installation, return to your flash drive, and install 3.41 firmware.

Put the PS3 into Recovery Mode. Then told it to do a System Update. I then inserted my USB Device with 3.42 FW on it and while in the process of updating, shut off my PS3...

I then turned PS3 back on and it gave me the option to Restore the File System to the ORIGINAL STATE. I chose to do that and it said insert a Storage Media Device. I inserted my USB with 3.41 on it and it said that it cant find any applicable data.

your new theory seems plausible.... but probably was thought of by Sony who most likely made sure you couldnt do this
