(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); OK, with PSGroove v1.1, if you load a 3.41 FW from USB using the FW Loader, but change vsh/etc/version.txt to show 3.50, will you be able to sign in?
Just sign in, I'm not worried about PS Store... JUST SIGNING IN!

Has/Can anyone try this?

nope this will only allow access to the psn store unfortunately but what might be possible is by changing it to 3.42 and then using the DNS trick I will give this a shot later on and report back

So, you can access PSN Store, but can't sign into PSN acc? Huh?

But yeah, that's a good idea, changing to 3.42 and trying bypass method, please report back!

you need to find away to edit the index.dat or get it from a newer fw.

So, the index.dat contains FW information, yes? So if we edit that, we can essentially bypass?

the index contains information about the fw kinda like the verstion.txt both need to be edited the method was done back in the PSP days and sony appear to have used the very same method now but the index.dat i personaly have no way of opening it other than Hex editer the best way would be getting one from a Newer FW verision.

If you want my index.dat and version.txt PS3 and the one from a PSP for checking out feel free to message me.

It's OK, I used the FTP Server, but some files wouldn't copy :/, so I'm using the file manager to copy to External HDD...

May take a while....

OK, how on earth did you get those? I tried both ftp and file manager method and my version.txt and index.dat files were empty once I'd copied them.

Same with xRegistry.sys..
