At least I can fight
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); So I have finally received my sample of the X3Jailbreak Product. From a design stand point it doesn't seem to be all that different from any other clones, but I will say that it feels pretty sturdy in hand.

The design is almost the same as the prototypes shown earlier but the case around in stead of it being rectangular its more elliptical shaped. Here are a few pics of the board itself but the chip on it has had its name scratched off.

There currently is no code on these boards so they would'nt get seized by Customs and Sony MIB and X3 will release a tool to program the boards once retail units begin shipping. The boards come with a switch on back that allows it to be programmed. And when attached to windows it installs as a HID device.

More information will be released at a later date. and a feature list has not been verified by them other than what was posted before on their site.

Edit:
X3jailbreak is now known as X3Max and the software for programming will be released on September 27th.

First of all, we would like to say sorry for the lack of recent news and any delays of the X3 product. We have been, with the full team, very busy in the last 2 weeks. We have decided to make some nice improvements to the X3 product as we did not want to adress this market with a very common solution like everyone else has done already.

We know that our competition is a main unique team that try to market a unique product under several brands. No innovations are in it. They are many different cheaply made PSJ clones.

That being said we have decided to renamed our product that we have shipped sample of. We are naming this product X3 MAX.

With the recent events taking place in the last couple of weeks, we have made some sharp choices in order to protect our resellers business. Our customer are free to buy, import in their home country and sell our solution, as our product is free of any hacking code or similar. Our customer buys hardware and sells hardware.

It is up to the end-user, your final customer, to change his product into a very powerful tool that will let him enjoy full pleasure of unlocked PS3.
We have written our own PC application for updating the X3 product. So, when anyone receives his X3 (Do Not expect to put in PS3 first), he will connect it to his PC thru the USB port and using the X3 Programming Tool, will update the X3. This update takes only about 5 seconds.

We shipped a hundred samples out on September the 21st to testing teams all over the world. They are invited to test the product and then post their feedbacks and video demos online. Stay tuned over the internet, you will shortly start to hear about our realization.

We are not releasing any software at this time. We plan to release both the PC application and any codes with an estimated release date of Monday September 27. The reason we have decided to do this is so that everyone that was shipped their sample will be able to all start using their devices on the same day.
We look forward to hear all your feedback from everyone that will be receiving their samples.

At this time we are in full production and we are in production with other PS3 products so Stay Tuned for more news in the next week!

Haxor!
I just saw this myself and apparently the first firmware for it is out now.

With its 128k flash memory, it's a great option for things like the new Linux boot loader -when it becomes fully functional.

Apparently it was previously know as the X3JailBreak.

With all the payloads that are available in the PS3 Jailbreak scene right now, it is recommended to go with higher storage microcontroller USB board which is compatible with the future updates for PSGroove, Hermes and others. Even the founder of PSGroove, Mathieulh, has mentioned about 32kb or more of storage.

Now, Marcan, famous for his Wii hacks has found a solution to install Linux in your PS3 with AsbestOS, well, i can say his very own OS for a Jailbroken PS3. To enjoy this Linux from Marcan, you got to use more storage and according to Marcan, you need at least a 64K (not 32K!) micro OR a device that has at least 64K extra external storage (SD, Flash, EEPROM). Which put a nice candidate for the Rockbox port and also the PSFreedom port devices.

The original PSJailbreak dongle will work with these update, but PS3 Jailbreak dongles such as the famous PS3Break, PS3Key won’t work with these kind of update. So, x3MAX just answered this call. Their microcontroller USB board boast a 32bit MCU and a stunning flash memory of 128k which is just enough for more future updates. They even released an image for us to compare their product with other PS3 Jailbreak dongles. Although some of other noticeable PS3 Jailbreak clones such as the ecliPS3, PS3YES are not included in the list but you could get a rough idea of what you are getting with this dongle.

Attached is our latest available firmware for the X3Max, formerly known as the X3JailBreak. The firmware is compatible with all of the prototype units sent out a couple weeks ago.

Currently we're manufacturing our final version, which will be shipping to resellers next week. We look forward to having a review done by one of the admins or forum moderators here for an un-bias perspective.

We'll be announcing a couple of new features in the coming weeks as we begin to ship our final version. I know, every team/cloner says the same thing...

Lastly, we'd publicly like to thank Hermes for the work he's put in, you've done a remarkable job, if we can be of help, please get in touch.

The Teensy++ 2.0 also has 128-130k flash memory and and sells for $24 US, but currently pjrc.com has no stock available .

I'm not sure what the x3max will sell for ?

Personally I still like the Minimus AVR 32 best , but may also buy a Teensy when a fully functional Linux loader is released.

X3 Max Instructions:

Once you receive your X3 Max you will need to visit You must login or register to view this content. and download the X3 Programming Tool and a file you wish to program your X3 Max with.

After you have download both of these two items you will need to extract x3Toolv1.0.rar on your PC and you will need to extract the code you would like to program on your X3 Max in to a directory.
(We suggest that you extract the X3 Max code into your X3Toolv1.0 directory.)

Now that you have everything that you need on your PC, you will need to toggle the switch on the back of the X3 Max to the ON position (Programming/Boot loader Mode)
then you will plug your X3Max in an open USB port of your PC

Then you will go to the directory where you extracted the X3Toolv1.0 and from here you will launch the X3Tool.exe.

Once the X3Tool is loaded on your PC you should see that it has " Connected " with your X3Max.

(If it has not connected then your switch is not in the ON position)

After the X3Max is connected then you want to open and select the Code that you wish to program your X3Max with.

Once the Code has been selected you may now click on the Program button. You will see the X3Tool programming your Code to your X3Max.
Once the program has been transferred to your X3Max you will get a message the " Programming Complete " .

You may now click disconnect and close the X3Tool application and remove your X3Max from your PC

The next step is to put the switch in the OFF position and you can now use it in your PS3.

PS3 Step is as follows:

Place your X3Max in the USB port closest to the PS3 DVD drive. (With the power switch off or PS3 Slim unplugged)
After this turn on the power switch or plug in the power cord to you PS3
Once this is completed then you will press the power button and then press eject right after.
If you have done all these steps correctly then the Red LED on the X3 Max will shut off.

If the Red LED stays on and you get unknown device on your PS3 then you need to start over with the PS3 off or unplugged.

Sorry, nothing does !

Somebody may find another type of exploit in the future, but it seems the USB one is closed for anyone above 3.41.

Well I hope your not a good hacker Mr.KAN∃ ..., or I may have to remove my thanks, as I wouldn't want to be accused of anything perverted ... lol

On most forums (where I belong), the number of times thanked and rep are completely separate stats and thanking is a quite a common courtesy.

Besides the obvious ... I have often found giving thanks can be a good way of having your response noticed by the one you have thanked.

However members here don't seem to be all that generous with their thanks, even if someone has gone to the trouble of trying to help them ...

Not that I'm really worried ... I tend to (mainly) put it down to the generally young age of the membership.

Anyway I'm not here for rep, I'm here because Sony's attitude to their PS3 platform really sucks and it deserves to be hacked !

Apologies to the OP for going off topic !
