garyopa over at PSX-Scene has posted an interesting article today, releasing many possible recent court documents.

To quote:

In this boring legal filings by Sony, it now covers not just PSJailbreak, but also names PSGroove, PSFreedom, OpenPSJailbreak, and they have filed printouts from various blogs, forums, with comments and tutorials people have been writing up on how to use these various programs. They even mention of course the phone ports & TI84 calc. hacks.

Sony is using this information, to get the courts to order up faster service, to force the various ISP’, Domain Register’s, and Web Hosting Services to give up the personal info on their clients so that can serve more court papers on those people, and issue DMCA takedown notices to shut down various sites.

So for the Judge has only granted one order so far, this one is directed to YAHOO! to within 5 business days to turn over all the information they have on a “[email protected]”, all IP’s he used to access his mail, his personal info stored by Yahoo, his email of course, and other logs.

This E-Mail address is the one that was used to rent the mail-drop box in Texas used by You must login or register to view this content. as their virtual office for orders, shipments, registering the domain name, etc.

Recently, that above name site which also goes under the company name of Zoomba stop using the “.com” domain and now is operating under a You must login or register to view this content. domain. — Plus also the You must login or register to view this content. site which seems to point IP wise to the older site, has suddenly been changed to DOJ/IPR/ICE notice that has been used in the past for “Torrent/Movie” site take-downs!

Anyhow, here is all the public court documents you can read thru them now, and see just what SCEA has been printing out about yourself online, they are asking the court they need to findout the true identify of everyone that sells, makes, offers for sale, or even has just knowledge of the real people behind any project called PSJailbreak, PSGroove, OpenPSJailbreak, PSFreedom.

Don’t be surprized if the next few days, you see less sites online, or you find yourself answering the door to a person serving you a Summons to Appear! — The good reading stuff is the PDF’s called Exhibit or Exhibits!

nah, they are worse than that, they should be arrested with the crimes they commit (remotely modifying of our ps3s, removal of features that to me is a violation of our freedom and rights and is also criminal damage), they treat us like criminals yet the things they do to our ps3 we should trace them down ourselves, it really does baffle me when some people bend down and takes everything sony throws at them.

For real though, when have you ever heard of someone getting in any sort of trouble for exploiting a console? Half the 360 user would be in jail lol.

You won't be arrested.

Most likely what will happen is you will get fined and your jailbreak equipment confiscated.

This includes your Jailbroken PS3 and whatever you used to jailbreak it.

None the less, it's a double edge sword for them:

They actually got more sales due to people buying second PS3s so they could keep one to jailbreak. Also, they're just fueling the flame. The fact that they are acting publicly about the jailbreak is just spreading the news about the jailbreak to other people. These people might be interested in the jailbreak and attempt it.

Honestly, a simple hardware ban would have done the trick.

Here's a tip for Sony:

Make all games in development (yet to be released) require 3.50 and higher.
MAC ban any system that has used the jailbreak.
Take court action against the owners of websites that distribute helpful information about the jailbreak, such as providing download links or tutorials on how to use it.

Problem solved.

Also, it's their fault. They removed advertised features, which before they were removed, hacking was minimal and piracy was not possible. People took advantage of a hole to install or allow the installation of new software. We did nothing wrong, the hole was their fault (not intentionally) and we didn't modify our Software or hardware to do it. We use USB devices and install software all the time. Nowhere in the Terms of Usage does it state that you "Can not exploit a memory glitch to install software"

It simply says you can not modify the software or hardware on the Playstation 3. We didn't modify a damn thing, just added to it using already existing options (USB ports and memory overflow glitch).

Sony are over preciousness parents, they see something that will enable you to do something you shouldnt and destroy it. Other OS, The perfectly legal psjailbreak (but would of been used to pirate) and now even open source projects. What will they do next?
