(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Ok so im currently waiting to buy a iPod Touch 1G, and i have also been following You must login or register to view this content. and in the sections it says you need to jailbreak it with Redsn0w or blackra1n (NOT Spirit). I know theres a site you can go on on the iPod but i dont know which type of jailbreaking it will be.

Help will be very much appreciated if you could tell me what it is. :wtf::derp::black:

iPods are my areas of speciality

You need to downgrade the iPod Touch 1G (it may already be on it) to 3.1.2 then use BLACKRA1N to jailbreak it.

So first things first download the 3.1.2 file for iPod Touch 1G from You must login or register to view this content.
Connect iPod to iTunes and Shift Click Restore - Navigate to the 3.1.2 iPod Touch File (should be with the extension *.ipsw)

Once it is restored - you have to jailbreak it. I have heard that it works better with BLACKRA1N - (I have installed Android on mine myself)

So DL BLACKRA1N from You must login or register to view this content.
connect your iPod and click Jailbreak (or whatever the button says)
Leave for a few minutes... it is done.
then proceed to follow the instructions you linked earlier - to install OpeniBoot.

Just one thing. Your ipod touch might not let you downgrade that easy if it is on the higher firmwares.

In that case you will have to have a search in google "how to downgrade from xx firmware" where xx is the firmware you are on Smile

cant you just restore the iPod to its original firmware by just pressing "Restore" on iTunes :jim:

No that's not possible because that will restore to the latest iPod firmware for this device (3.1.3)
So Shift Click restore all the time.

Actually , the 1st Gen iPod only has 3.1.3 as a maximum and that is easily downgradeable (the 1G doesn't require SHSH blobs - which is an entirely different matter)

Sorry for all the technical info
