On the Dutch ebay i can buy a ps3 with firmware 3.15 for €50.
The only thing is the cd player is broken.
Can i still jailbreak it and playing games from my external hdd?

When you say CD player do you mean the BLURAY DRIVE??? if so yes you could JB it but you will need a game inside the BR drive to play the backup.

Yes i mean the blueray driver.
But u are right, I did forgot there has to be a game in the blueray driver so i can run backup manager.

I am going to reopen this as you do NOT with open backup manager as well as v2 and v3 of most payloads.

Thanks for the heads up as I assumed you would still need a disk in at all times but thanks for the clarification.

A new payload (for most chips) was released about 2 weeks ago which allows it to mount to the /dev/game instead of the Blu-Ray drive. You still need a drive connected (At least it's blu-ray controller board) but you no longer need a disc in to mount games

Which device you running? I will find you the payload you need.

It wasn't for me "Berkant" was asking a question so I was trying to help him out. As he said he can get a cheap PS3 on a low FW but with a broken Bluray drive, But thanks for the offer.
