Post: SSH into the PS3?

(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); I have GodlyModz's patch (for MW2 obviously) on one of my PS3's, but I want to try more patches. I have them all ready to download, just need to find an option to get them onto my console.

I had jailbroken my PS3 on FW 3.41, and updated as soon as the patch was working. I didn't even think about trying different patches before I updated the console.

SOO. My question is. Is there a way that I could SSH into the PS3, and access the patch files? I'm also open to decrypting my hard drive. I have a PS3 running on 3.42 and can update to 3.50 if its absolutely needed. Is decrypting still possible on 3.42 and later FW's? I have the needed cables to hook my hard drive up to my computer, so just post a tutorial on how to decrypt, and I'll try it. I tried following a tut on youtube about it and using PS3 HDD Studio, but that didn't work. I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong. I get to the part where after creating a dummy file of the hard drive, and open the .bin dummy with the hex editor, then find multiple sectors with the same numbers. Problem is I have no sectors that are the same, so I can not proceed with decrypting the hard drive.

Please answer back as I would like to be able to finish decrypting the hard drive, or if you have an easier way to access the patch files, let me know.

this is more of what you should have done...if you kept one ps3 on fw3.41 and them transferred data from that ps3 to a ps3 with the most recent firmware then u would be able to try various patches online, changing to more updated patches as they come out.

But from what you said. You are just stumped like every other person on here. your decrypting method could work if you had help.. but they\ people that do know about this or can do this wont help as they rather keep it to them selves.

Hate to be the bearer of bad news but its just what goes on.

good luck though Smile

I had tried the data transfer thing, but since one of ps3's was on a later firmware, it stated that I needed to update the firmware version on the console being transfers from.

I take it that there is no way to jailbreak the ps3 through an iPhone for 3.42 fw, right? Unless I get one of the actual jailbreak ps3 USB dongles. I'm just weary about spending any money on something that *might* not work.

Is there any way to open the ps3 fw updates, and rename an older fw to a newer name, and change whatever else in that update make the ps3 recognize that it was an older fw that way it would think it was a later version? Get what I'm saying?
