Post: Play .mkv files on ps3 with jailbreak?

(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); A week or more ago a program came out that required the ps jailbreak to run it. It allowed to run .mkv files and such. Can anyone tell me what this app is called or if it is even the real deal?

MKV2VOB has the ability to split files so this is not much of a problem.

Also the remuxing only takes a few minuets. It is an excellent little free app !

Well yes, you powers of deduction are great indeed ... lol

It mightn't be a MKV player, but it allows the playback of remuxed MKV files (within a few short minuets) from a external HDD etc.

As far as I have seen, the new Linux loader is still a work in progress and is not fully functional. You must login or register to view this content.

Another option to play MKV files on a PS3 is streaming via a media server.

Since MKV container format is not what PS3 would play, some guys may remux the MKV files into *.ts file so as to play them on PS3. But this does not always work well, MKV file with DTS audio, for instance, is an exception. PS3 does not play the audio of the muxed TS file. How to make PS3 play MKV DTS video? An easiest way is to convert the file into PS3 compatible formats, like H.264/ MPEG-4 MP4 with AAC audio and MPEG-2 TS with Audio Layer 2.

Don't think it can handle .mkv files yet. Good luck though.
