WARNING:
I don't condone downloading things illegally - it's piracy and morally reprehensible and I think sony are perfectly within their rights to try to identify those doing it.
I do however wish to point out a fact just incase some users in this forum are put at risk by the following situation which has been reported to me:
Just a warning that a friend of mine was picking up quite a lot of sony hits being filtered out of some swarms by 'Peerblock'.
Those of you at risk (I'm happily not one) might be well advised to download peerblock and keep it updated.
I wonder if Sony are gathering information on torrent swarms to use in their ongoing court battles.
Furthermore this won't put you entirely out of danger but given it was at least identifying and filtering out some Sony computers it will help.
Peerblock and using a free anonymous VPN service which doesn't keep logs (there are many - google them) in combination may stand a much better chance. (protocol encryption and port randomisation might also be a sensible idea)
The only safe thing to do is NOT to enter swarms and simply use your PS3 to run homebrew and make your *own* backups of games you *own*.
Those of you with broken blueray drives should definately bare this advice in mind. Find another way (there are others) or have friend's backup your games for you.
Best of luck all.
Thanks! -Pimpspter
