I love rumors. They make us excited. So, if you are with me, then you will love this story that i just read recently. Earlier, i have reported on PS Jailbreak alleged attempt to charge people for a new firmware update and at the same time enjoying the PS3 Jailbreak ability. Now, there is a new story came up that strengthen my previous report.

Apparently, someone who had access to the certain keys for the PS3 firmware is in contact with PS Jailbreak team. When i meant someone, it has the possibilities of someone who have worked for Sony or had left the company for several obvious reasons. Well, if that someone has an access to the master key, then the PS Jailbreak team is really going to owned Sony this time. In fact, the Japanese corporation almost have no chance to fight back the PS3 Jailbreak scene. If you want to read more, here is my source which has been posted by Falcon80:

The reason i believe the update is real is because of what has been told to me.
No one knows who they are. If they had no more tricks up their sleeve why would they even bother hanging around?

The rumors are that they do get someone either from Sony or that had left Sony that possibly had access to certain keys. If its the master key then Sony are f**ked. Thats probably why they are saying “firmwares” becuase the update will probably work on future firmware version past 3.5……fingers crossed yall!

Again, this is just a rumor, nothing is concrete in this matter. Just for fun kind of thing. Anyway, there are still 4 days left before the official confirmation from PS Jailbreak regarding Backup Manager 1.1 which has “that will blow you all away” things promised from the one who has pioneered the PS3 Jailbreak scene.

So basically if this is true custom firmware will be just around the cornerHappy.
Only thing is,

as far as I can tell from logical knowledge, Sony can can just change the keys and boom we're back to square one lol

IF this is true, if Sony was going to patch this they would have to re-build a NEW patch from scratch. if they did the FW would more than likely be FW 4

And if it's just a rumor Sony won't do anything. They aren't smart enough to believe it may be real.

You know damn well Sony already has their butts covered. If the master keys were leaked and they see its being posted as a rumor they could already have a new firmware ready to be distributed for all we know.

Btw: I still dont get it, Sorry for my bad English i read it as"he update will probably work on future firmware version past 3.5" it won`t work for 3.5 but it works for 3,51+

I can't help but think this is BS. When I hear a rumor, it usually ends up being false. I really doubt SONY would let someone walk away with a "master key". In any case, SONY could always build a new key which would make the older one obsolete. And just like that, SONY f**** you in the ass. Of course, this is assuming there is a key in the first place.

As always, I would really be grateful if this were true but I'd rather just not get my hopes up to be let down.

It may work on 3.50 as well as future versions, they claim.

I don't understand why if a key is the only thing holding the JB team back, why they can't do a brute force crack on it. Sure, it might take a while if its like 200 characters, but still possible. And a while in this case is what, a week at most? That's not whats holding this development back, I'd be surprised if that was it. Learn a bit about password cracking (mines mainly from wep and packet analysis, etc) and it seems like it wouldn't be too difficult to find a "master key" if there were such one. If the key were encrypted...now that adds a whole new fun element now doesnt it?

the values could be astronomical as far as the key. chances are its not going to be an alphanumeric easy to brute force key. you have to go bit by bit and go through every possible scenario as far as the key is concerned. there are literally billions of different key combinations; Especially if its a form of AES encryption.
