But it's not a problem anymore.
Spanish hacker maquina07 has figured out a way to bypass the need for the newer firmware.
He hasn't released a tutorial yet, but has released complete proof that this works: You can download this PARAM.SFO and use it to play the new Medal of Honor game (which requires 3.42) while your PS3 is still running 3.41.

I actually don't think this will be that easy to patch on Sony's part. Meaning, they wouldn't be able to patch it using a firmware update; instead, the game makers would probably need to start formatting the games in a slightly different way.
Of course that's just my guess, I could be wrong

OMFG THIS ISNT HARD FFS why does every flip shit over this its not a secret at all make a
Step 1) Backup the game
Step 2) Put the files on your PC
Step 3) Download a SFO editor
Step 4) Open the PARAM.SFO with the SFO editor and change 3.50 to 3.41 or lower
... its that simple ffs
this is possible with any new game that comes out for newer firmwares...
