(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); I was just wondering wether it is possible to transfer data from the PS3 via the "GAIA" .pkg

I think it lets you swap between Internal and External.
There is also a "Copy" button.

I was thinking of getting some Blu-Ray disks from ASDA

Im going to quote to tell you, NO, it's not possible!

YOUR PS3 Physically doesn't have the ability to write to disks, whether they be blu-ray/dvd etc.

YOU CAN ONLY READ DISCS!

Also i'm wondering to why you'd want to transfer data to a blu-ray? It would be far cheaper and alot more practical to purchase a 1TB external HDD. And just plug that in to move data around, and store stuff.

People decrypt it all the time. Theres software that does that. It allows you to make backups of ps3 games.

NO NO NO. You can BACKUP the game, but you cant play it! It's got nothing to do with any encryption.

Its all to do with how the disc's are made.

In your PC, it Burns the data to the disc using a chemical process. But at sony they literally stamp the data on. (all it is millions of indents in the discs surface.)

However when they stamp the discs, they add a little bit of extra data which no BD/DVD recorder can write, because its literally out of the range of the area the drive is allowed to write on in usual circumstances.

However your PS3, can read this extra bit of data, unlike normal drives. If the data's not there, the discs not genuine, and the PS3 says 'talk to the hand'.
