What is homebrew and what does it exactly do?

Homebrew was blocked in update 2.50.It was an extremly enjoyable thing today.It was played through Blu ray java.

We could only play tiny games on PS3 homebrew, PSP homebrew allowed you to have different browser's and etc.

We had a nes emulator for homebrew , but sadly it was blocked.
