So basically, there are two different types of CAT5 ethernet cable. Both have 8 little wires inside, however the position of those wires determines which one you should cut while constructing a lag switch.

WHAT THIS MEANS:

Simply look at what color wire is in pin #2.

If the wires in your cable are setup like the T568A configuration (the green wire is in Pin 2), then you should use the GREEN WIRE.

If they are setup like the T568B configuration (the orange wire is in Pin 2), then you should use the ORANGE WIRE.

by looking at the pins. if the orange is in pin 2, cut orange and vice versa.

It's not that hard, but you could use Net tools if you have wireless internet.
