Firmware isn't saved on the hdd so you can't copy firmware from one hdd to another so the answer is NO

No you can't once you have updated to 3.55 you cannot downgrade or jailbreak.(At the moment anyway) You can however have a ps3 on 3.41 or borrow a friends, jailbreak it and data transfer the patch to a ps3 on 3.55 which is how you host challenge lobbies and mod other games. (I take it thats why you want to know)
