(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); In order to downgrade your 3.5 ps3 with an android phone the first thing your going to need to do is make sure your phone is rooted.

If your phone isnt rooted go to You must login or register to view this content. and see if your android is supported then follow the instructions to root it from there.

Now if your phone is already rooted your going to need to download the .img file for your phone from You must login or register to view this content.

Once you've downloaded the file put it in the root of the sdcard, and flash the new image using (flash_image recovery /sdcard/YOURFILE.img)

Now that you've flashed your recovery image boot your phone into recovery mode and psfreedom should now be at the bottom of the list select it and it and you should be in the psfreedom menu.

Now turn off your ps3 and disconnect the power cable, connect your phone to the playstations LEFT usb port, psfreedom should be running then connect your ps3 and press power and then eject right after it, the ps3 should turn off shortly after that.

Disconnect the phone and turn your ps3 back on to check if its in service mode, it should say service mode in a big red box on the bottom right of the screen then turn the ps3 back off.

Ok your gonna want to download the downgrade files from You must login or register to view this content. and put Lv2Diag.self (file 1) and the modified 3.41 PUP file onto the root of a blank usb.

Connect the usb with the two files on it to the RIGHT usb port and turn the ps3 on, the screen should be black and the led flashing, this will take a few minutes then will turn off automatically.

Take out the usb and delete the two files from it and put the file LV2Diag.self (file 2) onto the root of the usb.

Put the usb in the Right usb port again and turn your ps3 on it should turn off again in a few seconds.

Remove the usb and turn your ps3 back on, it should be on firmware 3.41 and now your done.

Hello,
I successfully downgraded from 3.5 to 3.41 using the above procedure. Now I am planning to change the harddrive and once I do that PS3 would like to install the firmware from USB. I used the PS3UPDATE.PUP from the download package above and placed it in PS3/UPDATE folder. PS3 complains that the firmware is corrupted. The I tired the original 3.41 firmware from sony and it is not recognized as firmware by PS3. What can I do to upgrade my harddrive and retain the 3.41 downgrade?
I already have homebrew installed on the system. Thanks for your help.

Your post is unclear. So, you downgraded to 3.41 and now you want to install it via USB? What?

Nope.. I want to upgrade the internal harddrive of the PS3 from 160GB to 320GB. Upon inserting a new harddrive in PS3, it would like to reinstall firmware from USB drive.

You don't need to do that as firmware is not installed on HDD. So upon inserting, your ps3 will format the hdd, and your all set to go.

BACKUP ANYTHING FROM 160GB THAT YOU WANT ON 320GB HDD, AS IF YOU PUT 320GB IN AND THEN FORGOT TO BACKUP, AND PUT THE 160GB HOPING TO GET IT BACK, YOUR DONE.

Sorry.. PS3 is asking to insert firmware3.41 or above .. Otherwise the ps3 is not booting

Here is the exact message
he system software cannot run correctly. Press the ps button to try to restart the system.

If the system cannot be restarted, the system partitionof the hard disk must be reformatted and yo must reinstall the system software.
Connect storage media that contains update data of version 3.41 or later then press the START and SELECT buttons at the same time.
For information on how to obtain update data, refer to the SCE web site for your region "

Ok make sure your USB is fat32.

Format ~

Make a folder inside USB-PS3-update-PS3UPDAT.PUP

Yes it's updat, not update, go ahead and capitalize the .pup file just to make sure.

Try this

USB is FAT32.
Filenames are as listed above. My fault with typo
If I use the 3.41 hacked firmware listed in this thread, i get an error
If I use the original 3.41 firmware, ps3 doesn't even recognize it.
