depends on what model of ps3 you have. some people are reporting that it formats your hdd.

on mine personally (the original fat ps3), i didnt loose any gamesaves or anything

i would back them up just to be safe

Back them up on a USB flash disc.

The problem is the copyright. Like ive spent hours and hours on some of those games and to loose them it would be rather sad.

if youre really concerned about it and you CANNOT copy to a usb, then do a complete system backup. it'll be a big file around 4 gb maybe and might take a while, but its better than nothing.
